Lady Gaga has the most Twitter followers
Having recently started watching these things and noticed that Charlie Sheen has over three million followers on Twitter, I thought I would take a look and see who has the most twitter followers full stop. Lady Gaga takes the top slot with over 9 million, with Justin Bieber coming in a close second.

Although Lady G dominates with the most followers on Twitter - Justin Bieber is next and has just under Lady Gaga's collection, a measly 8.5 million.
Justin Bieber has 8.5 million Twitter followers
Both of these outrank Barack Obama by several million, but I do not add links to politicians. I would bet most of those followers on Obama's Twitter account were paid to become followers - and those that weren't are sorely disappointed.
