orkut login
It seems like social networking websites have been around as long as the internet has been active. With the ability to connect and use orkut login to mingle with your family, friends, coworkers, and associates, it is easy to see why so many people spend hours per day on these types of websites. One of the original social networking sites, SixDegrees.com, or Six Degrees of Separation, set the stage for what would become one of the fastest growing trends on the internet almost 12 years later. SixDegrees.com was originally founded in 1997, and began allowing users to create profiles, and share lists with their friends in the beginning of 1998. From there, numerous different spinoffs have started up, with Orkut.com being one of the newest additions to the ever growing list of social networking websites.
When Orkut Was Started
Orkut is owned and operated by one of the largest companies on the internet, Google Inc. Google designed the service to help users meet new friends, and stay connected with old acquaintances, much like other popular social networking sites. Orkut got its name from the creator and Google Inc employee Orkut Buyukkokten. The site was started in 2003 after Google offered to purchase Friendster and was declined. It was originally launched for users to sign up in 2004 based on invitation only, but was quickly opened up for subscriptions to all users.
Orkut Startup Capital And Funding
With Google Inc being one of the largest companies on the internet, and being publically funded, it made it incredibly easy for them to start up a competing social networking service, without having to resort to venture capitalists or raising extra capital to fund the startup.
Orkuts’s Traffic History, Quantcast, and Alexa Statistics
Alexa.com ranks Orkut as the #107 site across the entire world, with it taking the #12 most visited site in Brazil. It is estimated, by Alexa, that Orkut receives, on average, 1.7% of the worlds internet users on a daily basis. While this is not near as high as Facebook.com or other, much larger social networking sites, it is still a feat for Google Inc to achieve such numbers in a highly competitive marketplace.
Quantcast.com, on the other hand, reports that the site receives a rough estimate of 251,000 global users every day, with their audience ranging being a majority of 18-34 year olds, and an even split between male and female visitors. Quantcast ranks Orkut as site #8,285 in the United States, while competitors are in the top 100 most visited sites every day.
What Orkut Offers To Their Members
Orkut and Google Inc had to work hard to set themselves apart from other social networking sites, which was made easy with the purchase of Youtube and the onset of Google Video. Orkut also allows users to create polls for gathering information from all of the community, and options to integrate their services with Gtalk (Google Talk) with Orkut embedded chatting and file sharing options. Newer features, such as changing themes, allows users to create a wide variety of personalized styles for their homepages, while other competitors require the same, bland interface across their entire network. Orkut members are also able to rate their friends on a scale of 1 to 3 in various different categories, such as Trustworthy, Sexy, Cool, and others.
Orkut’s Ideal Target Audience And Market Information
Orkut.com and Google Inc’s target audience with their social networking platform ranges greatly between males, and females, with a majority of users falling in between the ages of 18 to 34. This age group of their users is much larger when you compare it to the other age groups combined, from 13 to 17, and 35 to 49, which makes their target audience much trendier than on other social networking sites. Most of their users have kids, and earn between $0 and $60,000 per year, with a majority of the users having already finished graduates school.
Orkut’s Competition Analysis And Outlook
Orkut and Google Inc are going to have to work hard in order to set themselves apart from the rest of the crowd of social networking sites, and gain higher daily traffic numbers and active subscribers. The main reason for Orkut having so many problems taking off is the large amounts of controversy that have surrounded Orkut since its inception. Problems ranging from users setting up fake, and invisible profiles, to flooders and electronic spammers taking over the network and making it their own playground. Orkut also had problems and received attention from the Brazilian police for a user that used the website to create a hate community.
